And I&#039;m gratified that newspaper managers appear to be taking a lead position in grasping the difficult concepts of new media and finding ways to make it work -- and to keep us relevant.

I&#039;m an old newspaper grunt who grew up setting type by hand and on Linotype slugs and have weathered a myriad of changes in this industry. Despite all the difficult challenges ahead, I think this one might be the most exciting yet.  Certainly a lot of fascinating new tools to work with, although there&#039;s a much more challenging market to conquer.

Best of luck to everyone in the newspaper industry. And thanks for taking a lead position. It&#039;s satisfying to work for a company that recognizes the need for visionary thinking and is willing to change  before change is forced upon it.</description>
